Malu
is a Canadian-born painter, raised in Montreal, Quebec.
She concentrates her work in large-scale contemporary paintings,
using acrylics and various mediums. Malu's paintings are a journey into
modern abstract art.
Thanks to her several stays in
Brazil, she is influenced by the light as well as by colors to brighten
up her paintings. She allows herself a certain audacity and spirit,
similar to mosaic and automatism techniques. She expresses herself by
juxtaposing colors and movements - which by superposition - merge in either an
outburst of visual effect or in monochromy.
Malu's art skills began to appear in her early childhood. Even though she took courses for a few years, she considers herself as a self-taught artist in a continuous evolution and experimentation, this leading her to find out her inner interpretation of how to communicate her visceral feeling and transfer on canvas, her perception of the present moment.
When exploring Malu's paintings, one can become disconcerted but the intensity in the movement and the mixture of matters, allow us to distinguish fantastic, mysterious or sensual forms. She transforms her raw energy in a combination of translucence in contrast with texture, wich by impulse suggest a bi-dimensional volume. The momentum is awesome !
Pigments, textures and movements, applied with a palette knife generate an energy which is provocative. She installs her volumes in such a way that, according to the angle, will capture the light, thus allowing everyone a most personal interpretation. Reading Malu's paintings is a world in itself and nobody can remain indifferent.
Malu participates in prestigious fine art exhibitions in Montreal and also at international level such as Brazil, Portugal, Holland, Spain, Turkey, Singapore, Belgium, France, Great Britain and New York. She belongs to the Academie Internationale des Beaux-Arts du Québec (AIBAQ) and of Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec (CAPSQ). If her paintings can be seen im various shows in Canada, art lovers and collectors can discover her work in various international exhibitions and art events.
Distinction :
2010 - Prize winner of the 1st Grand Prize in abstract art, given by Le Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec (CAPSQ), for the originality, artistic value and technique of her painting Dorissimo.
